Preparing your model for Archer (BYOM)
What to submit for BYOM integration, what the team does with it, what not to worry about, and expected timeline.
What to submit
- Your Excel model file — the template you use for new deals, ideally with sample data so our team can see how formulas reference data
- Your COA preferences — which expense categories and sub-line items matter to you. If you're not sure, start with Archer's standard categories and refine later
- Any specific mapping instructions — e.g., "We put pest control under Contract Services, not R&M" or "We break out elevator separately"
Submit these through the Jotform link in your welcome email, or email them directly to your onboarding contact.
What the team does
The Archer team (typically Greg or Michael) will:
- Add Archer's data tabs (Rent Roll Analysis, Financials, Comps) to your workbook
- Connect the parsed data to your model's input cells
- Create your custom Chart of Accounts based on your preferences
- Set up any sub-line item breakouts you requested
- Test with sample data to make sure formulas calculate correctly
This takes 1.5 to 4 hours depending on model complexity. No meetings are required — it's done internally. If the team has questions, they'll reach out via email.
What not to worry about
- Your model doesn't need to be "clean" or formatted for Archer. Submit it as-is.
- Macros are fine — Archer adds only two small macros (goal seek and sensitivity) that don't interfere with yours
- Hidden tabs, protection, complex formulas — all fine. The team works with models of all complexity levels.
- You can change your model later. Adjustments are made by downloading your template from Settings, making changes, and re-uploading.
Timeline
Expect 3-5 business days from submission to "your model is ready." You'll get an email notification when it's live. In the meantime, you can start parsing documents and exploring the platform using the Archer Standard Model.
